Focus Scripture: John 9:1-7
People who lived in the first century believed that suffering resulted from sin being present in a person’s life or the life of the person’s mother or father. So naturally, when Jesus and company came upon a man who had been blind since birth, the disciples asked who sinned, the man or his parents. Interestingly, Scripture does not record any of the disciples stepping forward to ask Jesus to heal the man. No, it seems they were only interested in the dirt, gossip, and tabloid headline. But Jesus used the opportunity for a teaching moment that is just as relevant to our lives today as it were for those first-century disciples. As always, my prayer is that God will speak to your heart through today’s message in a way that will help you to grow closer in your walk with Him, encourage you to step out and share the gospel with someone today.

“God never leaves you nor forsakes you.” I’ve heard that before. “Jesus will leave the 99 to come after you.” I’ve heard that one too. Meanwhile, fear creeps up when life hurls a season of loneliness our way, and poof! Churchy sayings hold as much weight as thin air. Believe it or not, God is cheering us on and inviting us to thrive amidst the loneliness. Yes, it’s weird and scary, but this emptiness is a safe space where you get to hear the God of everything speak the loudest. You’re safe because God is so good at owning goodness, and because of Him, you aren’t so by yourself.”
