“Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.”Ephesians 6:11
In 1966, John Phillips penned the lyrics for what became a Grammy award-winning song performed by the Mamas and the Papas. The name of the song, Monday Monday. When you listen to or read the song’s words, it is clear that Phillips was no stranger to the Monday drudge. The rigors of that single day can often set the stage for the remaining days of the week. It is a day when the forces of evil seem to be most active, a day when the burdens and temptations of the world press in against us with all their might.
That is why Apostle Paul urges us to put on the whole armor of God, to rely not on ourselves but solely on God. You see, our greatest strength comes to us in our greatest weakness because, in our weakness, we find God’s strength. We put on the armor of God by studying His Word along with the Holy Spirit’s stalwart presence in our hearts. It brings to mind the powerful verse of Scripture: “If God is for us, who is against us?”
Therefore, as we press through the Monday before us, let us put on the whole armor of God, let us draw upon and be entirely reliant on His strength, His wisdom, and His guidance.
