Daily Bible Verse

“The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few.”

Luke 10:2

This verse comes from the passage of Scripture that speaks to when Jesus sent out seventy people to profess to the various village and townspeople about the coming kingdom of God. Jesus drew a comparison to how a farmer carefully plants and tends his crops, but when the harvest comes, he could lose a large proportion of his crops because there are not enough workers. Jesus knew there were many tender souls ripe for harvesting and thus, sent our His witnesses.

The same applies today in that there are many tender souls ripe for the harvest, but there are not enough workers. In other words, many people have yet to hear the gospel and accept Jesus as their Savior and Lord. There are not enough Christians who actively and intentionally share the gospel as part of their everyday lives, i.e., the workers are few.

Therefore, in obedience to what Jesus calls every one of His followers to do, let us reaffirm our commitment to seek out every opportunity to share the gospel, which is the good news of Jesus Christ. Let us remember that it is not enough to share the gospel or live the Christian life; instead, we must do both, to show and tell the gospel

Blessings.
