Daily Bible Verse: To Be Born of God is to Love as God Loves

“Beloved, let’s love one another; for love is from God, and everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.”

1 John 4:7

We use the term “love” to express how we feel about different things in our lives. For example, we love our wives or our husbands, we love our children and our pets, and we even love chocolate cake and ice cream. Simply put, we love to use the word love, but when Apostle John used the term love, he used the original Greek word agapao, which refers to an all-encompassing sacrificial love, the love Jesus expressed to humanity by His willingness to go to the cross at Calvary.

John urges all believers to love one another as God so loves us, with an all-giving love. What makes agapao such perfect love is the fact that God Himself is love, and everyone who has been born again, born of God, knows God, and to know God is to know His love, and to know His love is to know how to share that love with others. God’s love is both all-reaching, deeply penetrating, and without end.

Therefore, in the day ahead, be encouraged to meditate on God’s love and make a genuine effort to share His love with everyone you meet by letting them see His love in you. It’s how we show and tell the gospel.
