“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 1:9
Oh, how easy it is to be all pious on Sunday, to be strong in the faith, and sing praise and give adoration to God. However, when Monday rolls in and the world comes crashing in, we can sometimes feel as though God is nowhere to be found, that He is disinterested in what we are going through or how we are feeling. In other words, we convince ourselves that we are not even a tiny blip on the Lord’s radar. It can seem as though we are walking through the valley of the shadow of death all alone and fending for ourselves. However, nothing could be further from the truth.
When the Lord chose Joshua to lead the Israelites into the promised land after the death of Moses, He gave him the same assurance that He gave Moses. The Lord told Moses, I will go with you and tell you what to say (Exo. 4:12). In Joshua’s case, the Lord tells him to take courage, be strong, be fearless, never be discouraged, and in the pages of Scripture, we can see time after time that God kept His promise. Just as God did for Moses, Joshua, and a great many more throughout the Bible, He will do the same for you. He will be there for you always, going before you, walking with you, and guiding you through the Holy Spirit who dwells in the heart of all believers. Yes! We are never alone, and there is no problem that is too big for God.
Therefore, as we roll into Monday and the world begins to press in on us from all sides, let us heed the words of the Lord who says to us in a tender loving voice, “Behold, I will be with you always, to the end of the age” (Matt. 28:20). God is with us, and He is for us, and if God is for us, who can be against us? It has been said, if you have minor problems, you have a big God, but if you have significant issues, then you have a small god. The question is, do you have big or small problems? The choice to trust in the Lord is yours.
