Hello Again!

“I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.”

Revelation 1:18/NIV

I lived in eastern Virginia for many years in an area called “Hampton Roads” (Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, etc.), where I made many friends. Eventually, I moved back to my state of origin and left behind all of the friends that I routinely saw face-to-face. Though I remained in touch through phone calls and other social media options, this was not the same as getting together in person with them! This past year I had a chance to travel back to Hampton Roads and visit many of my friends who have been like family to me. Hello again! What a homecoming and reunion this was!

Reading about the Apostle John, we know he was one of the disciples that followed Jesus Christ. When Jesus walked the earth and John was in His company, they spent much time together. After Jesus was crucified, resurrected, and later ascended to heaven, Jesus Christ and John maintained a Spiritual connection, but there was a physical separation. Though the Spiritual connection occurred, which strengthened John, I know he was saddened that he could no longer walk with Jesus in the physical sense.

In the book of Revelation, we see that the Apostle John was exiled on the Island of Patmos for participating in the Great Commission, which involved teaching people about the Good News of Jesus Christ. As previously discussed, John had maintained a Spiritual connection with Jesus, but a physical separation had occurred after Christ ascended to Heaven. As we read in Revelation, John, through his vision experience, had a great physical reunion: “When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades” (Revelation 1:17-18/NIV). Jesus spoke to John and reached out and touched him! I cannot imagine a greater reunion than this! Hello again!

As a follower of Jesus Christ, who is my Savior and Lord, I know I have the Spirit within me! As the Spirit is in me, I know that He walks with me! As a follower of Jesus Christ, 2 Corinthians 5:8 tells me after taking my last breath here on earth; I will be present with the Lord in eternity! As such, I will experience a great physical presence with my Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ! I have much to look forward to on that day! Amen!

Self-reflection consideration: Do you know Jesus as your Savior and Lord? If so, I imagine you too will experience the marvelous experience of speaking with Jesus and being touched by Him!

Many blessings to you!
