“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
PSalm 46:1/NIV
During the COVID-19 pandemic, I became infected with this virus several times. What a game changer this virus is when you are trying to work and maintain a consistent and somewhat normal lifestyle. Both occasions required visits with my primary care physician resulting in a COVID diagnosis with the standard recovery plan: practice appropriate safety precautions and quarantine until symptom-free. Both occasions resulted in major lifestyle changes and deviations from normal routines. How frustrating to be weakened by this virus!
When tough times occur, I quickly think about Romans 8:28 – “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose” (NIV). I know that God is omniscient – all-knowing. I have come to the understanding that God knows what’s on my horizon, and I believe He will allow things to happen to protect me from devastating circumstances. For myself, I believe the occurrence of COVID-19 on two occasions could have put me in a safer place for God to work for my good. Perhaps a detour in life to prevent some unknown dreadful occurrence from happening.
Because I have salvation through Jesus Christ, I will not be afraid when the COVID season comes. “Therefore we (I) will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging” Psalm 46:2-3/NIV). I will not fear because God is my refuge and strength, my ever-present help throughout life, especially during troubling times!
God is my Shepherd, and He will provide for me; as I walk through the dark COVID seasons, I will not be in fear because God is with me (Psalm 23). God is my safety net and comforts and provides for me in many ways. “Keep me safe, my God, for in You I take refuge” (Psalm 16:1/NIV). “I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me. I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With Him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.” (Psalm 16:7-8/NIV). God is my refuge and strength, and with Him at my right hand, I will not be shaken! Amen!
Many blessings to you!
