“The Lord is my strength and my defense; He has become my salvation.”
Psalm 118:14/NIV

Uncertainty and turmoil are continuous and never-ending. The Bible tells us we can turn to God, and His Son, Jesus Christ, for strength during times of uncertainty. In doing this, we can survive the trauma being experienced in a mightier fashion with greater confidence. As our heavenly father can strengthen us to face the inevitable with a positive outcome, He can also be our defender! Let’s explore further!
Daniel 10 describes angelic – demonic warfare that is going on in the heavenly realms. The turmoil that we do not see nor are we a part of. Paul tells us who our primary adversary is: “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms” (Ephesians 6:12/NIV). I anticipate continuous angelic resistance and opposition to demonic threats to protect humanity from Satan’s evil schemes, desires, and plans! Heavenly support is being rendered! I wonder if we can take action to defend ourselves.
Paul informs us (Ephesians (6:13-17) of defensive measures to help us during the day of evil: “Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God” (NIV).
Each component of the “Armor of God” is achieved through our active relationship with God and Jesus Christ. These are not automatically awarded to us; we have to seek them! We should seek to live a truthful and righteous lifestyle. We need to work towards strengthening our faith. The helmet of salvation avoids sinful thoughts and seeks goodness and truth. The sword of the Spirit, God’s Word, should be read and meditated upon daily and not depart from our lips. We should see to wear the “full Armor of God” to defend ourselves from Satan and the dark forces.
A lot to think about! “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1/NIV). As God is my refuge and strength, I will seek an active relationship with Him and Jesus Christ and have the Holy Spirit within me. That will give me the strength and defense I need to face the dark forces and tough challenges. As you are reading this, I encourage you to do the same. The Lord is my strength and defense!
Many blessings to you!
