“The Lord is my strength and my defense; He has become my salvation.”
Psalm 118:14/NIV
Isaiah 64:6 tells us: “All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind, our sins sweep us away” (NIV). The sobering truth about the reality of humanity! Romans 3:23 tells us: “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (NIV). These Bible verses do not describe humanity in a good fashion. The Bible also tells us if we have a sinful thought that is not acted upon, sin has occurred.
God is omniscient and knew from the beginning humanity would struggle, and He had a plan of redemption and salvation for us. “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23/NIV). “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16/NIV). Romans 10:9 (NIV) tells me: “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
God’s grace is apparent in the verses provided describing His plan for salvation! “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9/NIV). Our best attempts to achieve righteousness are considered nothing more than filthy rags, and no work we could produce would be good enough in God’s eyes! Thank goodness for God’s grace!
As the Lord Jesus Christ has become my salvation, I have hope and confidence with my remaining days on earth and into eternity! As I have achieved salvation through repentance, expressed faith, and belief in Jesus Christ, I have received the greatest gift of all! As the Lord Jesus Christ is my salvation, I also have His defense and strength keeping me safe to do the work He has planned for me! I am God’s craftsmanship created through Christ Jesus to do His good works in the world! Thank you, God, for your amazing grace! The Lord is my strength, defense, and my salvation! Amen!
Many blessings to you!
