If there is one thing everyone can agree on, life has its ups and downs, peaks and valleys, good times and bad. When life drags us down, it can be like dragging a ship’s anchor in the mud, going uphill and against the wind. When those days come our way, whether at the office, a store, or wherever, we sometimes feel like throwing our hands in the air and calling it quits. When we reach that point, that is when we need to remind ourselves that God has a plan for our lives.
When Jacob’s brothers sold him into slavery, only to find himself thrown into an Egyptian prison for a crime he did not commit sometime later, life did not look so good for Jacob, but God had a plan. In time, Jacob rose to become a powerful man in the land of Egypt, second only to Pharaoh himself. Jacob made a difference in the lives of thousands because of his faith in God. When the path of Jacob and his brothers crossed again, he told them that what they had meant for evil, God meant for good.
Through a series of events and thanks to the bravery and faith of his natural mother, Moses grew up in royalty, found and adopted by Pharaoh’s daughter. However, later in life, Moses found himself in exile from the only home and family he ever knew– an enemy of the state, but God had a plan. God would later call on Moses to return to Egypt to demand that Pharaoh release all of the Hebrews from the bondage of slavery. Moses did just that, and he led the nation of Israel to a land flowing with milk and honey, the land God promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
After Jesus’s arrest in the Garden in Gethsemene, Peter cautiously followed at a distance. When people noticed Peter and suggested that he was one of Jesus’s disciples, Peter denied that he knew the Lord three times, just as Jesus told him it would come to pass. The Bible says Peter wept bitterly. Peter probably felt like a complete failure, a total screw-up, but God had a plan. The resurrected Jesus met Peter on a beach by the Sea of Galilee to recommission him to serve God and minister to the people. As history records, Peter became one of the most prominent figures in building the early church.
Perhaps you have come across hard times, as did Joseph, or, like Moses, you are facing what seems like an impassable brick wall. Maybe you feel like Peter, who reached a point where life seemed like a complete train wreck. Friend, if that describes your life’s circumstances, you only need to know one thing: God has a plan for your life. Remain firm in your faith, hope, and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, for He has not forgotten you, nor will He ever abandon you.
Remember, God causes all things to work together for good to those who love Him, those whom He calls according to His purpose, and if you love God, that includes you: He has a plan for your life, just as He did for Jacob, Moses, and Peter, and for everyone who loves Him! Keep strong in your faith; God will never let you down!
