“Beloved, let’s love one another; for love is from God, and everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.”

We use the term “love” to express how we feel about different things in our lives. For example, we love our wives or our husbands, we love our children and our pets, and we even love chocolate cake and ice cream. Simply put, we love to use the word love. Still, when Apostle John used the term love, he used the original Greek word agapao, which refers to an all-encompassing sacrificial love, the love Jesus expressed to humanity by His willingness to go to the cross at Calvary.
One of the popular slogans in the secular community is “Love is Love.” It is most often used to promote behavior and a lifestyle that is not in line with God’s word. The slogan and the mindset it promotes are permeating communities across the nation. No matter what medium pushes the message, it is an incorrect message about love targeting children to influence cultural change that draws the country further from God by the day.
John urges all believers, those who follow Jesus, to love one another as God so loves us, with an all-giving love. What makes agapao such perfect love is that God Himself is love, and everyone who has been born again, born of God, knows God. Knowing God is to know His love, and to know His love is to know how to share His love with others. God’s love is both all-reaching, deeply penetrating, and without end, it is perfect love.
Therefore, today and in the days ahead, be encouraged to meditate on God’s love and make a genuine effort to share His love with everyone you meet by letting them see His love in you. It’s how we show and tell the gospel.
