Daily Bible Verse: The Lord Is My Shepherd

“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.

Psalm 23:1

David begins his poetic verse that makes up Psalm 23 with a profound statement that conveys his level of faith, knowing with full confidence that God will provide for all of his needs. So much so that he has no desires and is fully content with all that God has given and will give him. The commercialism of modern-day bombards our minds with suggestive selling tactics continually. The intent is to convince us that we “want” this item or that thing to a point where we purchase.

Like David, we too must be content with the Lord’s provisions that see to our daily needs. That is not to say God does not want us to desire certain things that we see, but that we are not to be consumed by them that we fail to see and acknowledge that He is our provider, to a point where they take His place in our lives.

Therefore, in the day ahead, meditate on the fact that the Lord is your shepherd. Be encouraged to recognize and give thanks for His provisions in your life, which He so freely gives without reservation.

Blessings.
