“Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.”
Acts 1:11

As Jesus ascended above the clouds and into heaven, the disciples continued to look up as though Jesus were going to peak back through the clouds and say, “Gotcha! I’m just playing guys, come on up.” However, two men dressed in white, presumably angels, asked the disciples why they were standing there just staring into the sky. They had a mission; they had their orders to carry out for God’s purpose and plan. The men let the disciples know that Jesus would return in the same fashion as He departed. In other words, they did not need to stand watch, wait, and only be concerned with themselves; they had a message to share with the world.
Many Christians today and whole churches seem to suffer from that same arrested state where their focus is on themselves waiting for Jesus to return. Sharing the gospel has become a rarity in everyday life. In other words, it is as if Christians are saying in today’s environment, “Hey! I got my bus ticket; every man for himself!” However, now, more than ever, the world needs to hear the gospel because when we recognize the signs of the times, it becomes crystal clear that the day of our redemption, the rapture of the church, is on the horizon.
As we arise to the dawn of each new day, let us remind ourselves of the words penned by apostle Paul. Paul wrote, “How then are they to call on Him in whom they have not believed? How are they to believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how are they to hear without a preacher?” (Romans 10:14) Jesus calls every Christian to be preachers of the gospel, to evangelize, to witness to the lost so that they too might believe. Therefore, be encouraged to seek out opportunities to share the gospel, ask God to open doors that will put you in the path of someone whose heart is ready for the spiritual harvest, to accept Jesus as their Savior and Lord.
